I've always been fascinated by the beauty and complexity of nature, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Colorado. I then worked as a research assistant at both the Harvard School of Public Health and the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston for many years. Moving to beautiful Maine in the 1980s with my growing family, I pursued another strong interest in child development and family issues and enjoyed working for several years with children and families in social service programs.

Distinctly drawn (come in if you want to hear the whole story...) to acupuncture, I graduated with a Master's of Acupuncture degree from the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, Massachusetts. This is the oldest acupuncture and Oriental Medicine school in the United States, and as I can personally testify, a very rigorous and challenging three year program. I am licensed to practice in Maine and am nationally board certified through the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

As a licensed professional with a strong background in science, perhaps a certain calm and unbiased demeanor should be displayed, but I can't help it - I personally believe acupuncture is nothing short of amazing! My personal experience with treatments myself have produced results far beyond of what I imagined and for me really opened up a method to achieve and maintain great health. As an acupuncturist I continue to be delighted how effective a few well-placed needles can be at relieving physical and emotional pain. In addition, I love to watch how treatments often are the catalyst for patients to begin to achieve concrete and lasting positive changes in their lives. I can't begin to count the number of times patients have told me "I feel like my old self again" or "I came in for (a specific ache) and now I feel so much better overall!"

My mission is to unveil this ancient form of natural medicine of its mystery and make it understandable, accessible, and, well, just plain enjoyable. I chose the name Abundant Health to reflect the premise that we are all capable of boundless well-being once our bodies and spirit are in harmonious balance. I also had to laugh when I realized that the initials reflect another very commonly heard expression in the treatment room. This is the contented sigh of "Ahhh..." after treatment is complete and patients are in what we call the "AcuZone" - an inner place of blissful serenity.
